I made an oath today that I won’t be getting up from my desk until I’m done with all the pending jobs I have, except I have to see my cousin who works somewhere on the 2nd floor, his aunt from his father side passed away 2 weeks ago and I haven’t gotten a chance to pay my respects to him, so I’ll probably go today. I’ve been meaning to go earlier but somehow I didn’t. I feel so awkward in such situations …
It’s so hard not to take part in some of the office gossip that goes around esp. in a working place consisting of 8 girls (including me), it’s inevitable.
The thing is I really enjoy keeping in touch with what’s going on that’s all. I find it so hard not to over hear stuff and I do feel guilty about it but I try my best to defend that person in question, sometimes it’s angers me when all the talk is meant to hurt someone else. That’s so wrong, whatsoever the reasons were, even if they prove to be true.
I really don’t care if I was the office gossip, as long as it won’t cause any reputation issues with anyone. I just sit and laugh at the things some girls make up. It makes me feel so lucky I’m not like that.
At 4am Rami pulled the duvet away from me, it was so cold I shivered, still shivering at the thought, then I couldn’t go back to sleep so I was out of bed. I remembered I had to steam hubby’s clothes and just when I was about to switch on the steam, Hassan woke up. Perfect timing! He was so sleepy but didn’t want to go back to sleep because I was out of bed (problem with letting your baby share the bed with you) and maybe next time I should tip-toe. I had to take him downstairs.. dad was awake, took advantage of that and gave him Hassan. I finished up what I had to do, quickly got dressed and went to work.
Got here 5 minutes late, as usual, I wasn’t the only one late. I’m so glad no one noticed me. I’m the sort of person who likes to keep a low profile at all times, except when I’m angry. Today I preferred to sneak in than get caught so as to keep a good image of myself.
It’s 3:15pm now, I need to have my nails done after work but looking at the weather outside, it’s unlikely. I know I need a manicure when my nails are 0.3cm long. I hate long nails. I can’t stand them the least bit. I love having them done by a professional manicurist though the only problem is I hate taking appointments for anything other than massage sessions. Nevertheless I’m still thankful that in Kuwait we don’t really have to wait so long for anything, i.e. I’m feeling a little ill I’d go to the emergencies and I get seen by the doctor within minutes, plus if I look a little fainty then they’d put me on an IV fluid. You’d still get some people complaining about waiting but I’m not one of them, in fact I love waiting for appointments here.
Last week was horror for us at work. Some girls thought they saw a mouse others were sure they did. I thought that some of the girls were making it up for a little action at the office but when one of my co-workers shouted: ‘look out, there’s one behind your seat,’ I jumped up involuntarily and gave out a loud shriek. I knew then that they were saying the truth. I’ve never seen a mouse before and I can’t bear the thought of it. Where did they come from?
So towards the end of the day we called up someone who in turn put several glue traps around the corners. The next day early in the morning, I was the first to spot the first little mouse glued on the trap but it was still alive and that’s when more started to show up. We had to call up those guys again to put some of the pink stuff or rat poison. That same day the glue traps caught another one. To make matters worse I even heard the poor little mouse scream! I’m still not over this and the picture says it all.

Today we’re having a Graish feast at work and I’ve just finished baking a cake. My aunt offered me some homemade Kubbahs and our cook will take care of frying them for me. I’m also getting Caesar’s mini pizza, my favourite, and our driver will also take care of ordering them for me. I’m tired now but I won’t sleep until I shower.
I’m hungry already …
Today is my first day back to work after a one month vacation in Scotland from 10/8/06 to 9/9/06. Last week my co-worker told me that my manager wants us to come back to our other working place, and I’m so glad she did the honours of packing my stuff lol.
I spent the last few days in Aberdeen doing the VAT forms, visiting the old ruins of Dunnottar castle near Stonehaven and just relaxing at Duthie Park.
Dunnottar castle was amazing and it might have been the film location for Mel Gibson’s version of ’Hamlet.’ We had to walk up and down several flight of stairs to get to the castle in freezing weather plus later on it rained and I remember thinking there was no way I can do this with a baby in my arms. I couldn’t even use his stroller at all, but I managed with the help of Rami and Dad.
Now I have to seriously work!
