why can’t we have Barney
Good things about this country:
1. It takes less than 5 min. to see a physician without taking a prior appointment.
2. Price of gas is cheap.
3. No taxes.
4. Bus fares are so cheap (150fils from Kuwait City to Farwaniya).
5. No charges on land line phones.
Ps. Salons are so cheap, ex. if you go to farwaniya you’ll find many salons who charge only 1 kd for any job done.
Bad things about this country:
1. Gyms are so expensive.
2. Lands are ridiculously overpriced.
3. We don’t have Barney.
4. Private education is very expensive.
5. Physicians prescribe antibiotics like candy.

Yeah true but I guess something makes up for something.. but I thought there are some moderate priced gyms.. and lands yeah they are going insane lol !! Maybe because we don’t have taxes lol..
Personally I don’t see why is everybody crazy about private education.. I was in a public school and I turned out fine lol!

Cat, what I know is you only pay 60 kd the first year and 30 kd renewal fees every year, so no charges on local calls.
Shosho, private education is a little bit better than public schools but you’re right, it’s not always the better option.

You are so right about the prescriptions, I wish that would change in Kuwait. I prefer alternative medicine.

What’s wrong with prescribing antibiotics ?
It has been proven that even with viral tonsillitis (soar throat) anti-bacterial agents (antibiotics) will reduce the illness in 1-2 days. If it was your child who is crying at 3 am for a week .. 2 days would make a huge difference I tell ya!
I know people would argue about disturbing the natural flora of the body and how old bugs are becoming resistant and so on, but come on, sobs now contain antibiotics.
Trust your GP’s they have received adequate training and they are being monitored by seniors with the latests guidelines on treatment.

mishref, I trust the doctors to some extent but how can I trust physicians who tell me my son needs antibiotics because he has a fever of 38.5, without really making sure if he has a bacterial infection or a viral one?? I know if a fever lasts more than 3 days then it’s probably not a viral one but there are some tests that can me done to point out what sort of infection it is and they are not preformed in government hospitals. For example, throat culture or specific blood tests …
