GAP - Avenues
I went to gap two days ago, I really like gap for kids but I didn’t like their store in the Avenues at all and I would rather shop online instead, I’d really feel more at ease esp. after having been stopped by the security guard because I was holding my baby’s juice in my hands. It was not allowed inside the store! I felt embarrassed but I handed the juice to him. He gave me a look and said: what can I do with it? Then I grabbed it back from him and put it down on the floor next to him, as I was about to get in the store, he said: as long as you come back for it. I didn’t!
I didn’t see any signs outside the store saying no food or drinks allowed inside the store. I’ve been to gap in the UK and I’ve always had food or juice with me, never did I encounter such a thing, no one seemed to care either.

I can understand your embarrassment but it’s a common thing not to be allowed to enter a drink into a store all over Kuwait and in many countries around the world as well

I was stopped at different stores around the Avenues asking me to get rid of my coffee before getting in.

The security guards are a little more vigilant at a new mall than an older one. I’ve been told several times at Marina Mall not to bring a drink with me into a store. I do have one question, why didn’t you throw the drink into the trash instead of putting it on the floor?

that’s crazy, he ought to know that your baby will get thirsty in the store and will need something to drink.

Its disgusting that you don’t get rid of your trash yourself and that you expect others to pick it up for you.

The idea of food or drinks is very rigid and as you said, quite embarrassing! I was in a similar situation when I bought some coffee at Columbus cafe and was about to get to a movie in Al Fanar.. I was stopped because I wasn’t allowed to bring my coffee in with me! Sometimes things are quite ridiculous.

Apart from all the cinema i have noticed its in most of the stores in Avenues, where they dont allow drinks to be taken in, i felt it was very weird!

??? not all stores do that, it rarely ever happened to me, except in co-ops.
Zahra, I wanted to but the trashcan was metres away and I thought I’d come back for it later then I thought what’s the point, they didn’t respect I had juice with me because it’s screeching hot everywhere and my kid might get thirsty. It’s very normal for mothers to carry juice, formula or bottled water everywhere they go so their kids don’t get hungry or dehydrated.
t, I was forced to leave my baby’s juice behind. It’s not like I had a choice and if there was a trash can nearby I would have gotten rid of it myself but I was most annoyed with the rudeness of the guard, he didn’t ask me politely to throw the juice away.

That is kind of dumb! What the hell are they thinking!!!

Yes, I do think they should make exceptions for mothers.
