Tissue brands

My allergy makes me sneeze a lot so that’s why I have a huge supply of tissues stacked with me all the time. I’m a tissue box eater. I’ve been convinced lately that the tiny tissue particles make my allergy worse, anyone noticed that? So I went ahead and tried different tissue brands.

Most tissues come in two-ply which is something I don’t like at all. At work we get the cheap sort and when I take a tissue out of the box all I get is a single half while the other half is stuck in the box, very frustrating.

At home we usually buy the co-op brand tissues and the problem with them is when you open a new box of tissues you’ll notice you can’t pull one piece of tissue without pulling out a whole bunch all together, but now this is fixed. I’ve never had the same problem with Kleenex.

Very cheap tissue brands really smell like a fermented chicken and sometimes rotten eggs. I found some brands that won’t really last a day on worse days with their impropriate tissue compositions which makes them rip apart easily.

There’s the very hard paper tissues that would leave your nose red and sore, and I don’t recommend anyone would use them. The perfumed kind is not recommended too because it irritates the nasal passages.

The worse brands I can say are the ones that don’t dry your hands when they’re wet instead they stick to them, I noticed that with toilet tissue roll.

There’s the expensive kind and it’s the best in the market, it’s so baby soft but I don’t really like very much either because it creates a lot of tiny particles.

I must say I haven’t tried using the traditional method of wiping the nose with a handkerchief because the idea is not appealing at all, so basically nothing suits my taste when it comes to the quality of tissues sold here in Kuwait.

Chicken Machboos

Monday, March 12th, 2007

Yesterday for lunch I cooked chicken machboos with fried onions, pineseeds and raisens on top, a traditional Kuwaiti or Middle Eastern dish and I have to say it was quite tasty. I didn’t expect to cook it just right. The rice had the perfect colour, texture and taste. The chicken was very tender and juicy. I couldn’t have done it any better.

I don’t wear specs in public anymore the last time I did I was in high school. First time I used contacts I felt so weird, I looked so different, I wasn’t used to myself without glasses. I was so used to that little weight on my nose that I continued to feel I had them on for a long time even after I had contacts on. I kept touching my nose with my index finger, thinking I had my glasses on in effort to lift the specs in their correct place.

I hated the fact that I had to wear glasses because they looked so nerdy and geeky, not to to mention the ugly red pressure marks it would leave on my nose. I got my first specs at 10 yrs, it was a ninja turtle frame which was in fashion back then so I didn’t mind them plus I was pretty young, I actually thought they were so cool. My cousin was so jealous and so wanted one lol.

At some point in my life I wanted to do a lasik surgery, I even went for several eye checks but the procedure seemed very risky and I was very hesitant about the whole thing due to little research available. Such surgery doesn’t correct the eyes 100% as a matter of fact there’s a chance you’ll still need to wear glasses again later on maybe by age 40 to correct it. I also heard that driving at night can sometimes be as difficult as it is because you’ll still get night flares, glares and haziness.

The day before yesterday I was clearing out some stuff when I found my unused sunglasses and as you know I’m not a big fan of glasses. I told myself I must give them another shot, anything’s better than looking at the sun glares with naked eyes. I put it on and drove to work, it felt good looking around without worrying about staring at something without being misinterpreted. I mean sometimes I look at things and appreciate their beauty as it is, other times you look at somebody and unconsciously you stare at that person because they remind you of somebody or something, then you go into the deep thinking phase. I guess wearing sunglasses save us the trouble.

Baby hates

Monday, March 12th, 2007

My baby hates having his teeth brushed and getting his body scrubbed. I’ve tried the sweet way but he screams and cries. So my preferred method is to hold his hands and legs in place using a little force and gently I’d start brushing his teeth. He desperately squirms and struggles to get out of my grip but of course he can’t lol. If he’s in the tub he hates me interrupting him as he plays so I don’t have much of a choice but scrub him very gently as he screams at the top of his lungs for me to stop. There’s no other way to making him want to get his teeth brushed and body scrubbed. Any suggestions?

Great timings

Sunday, March 11th, 2007

Now that I’ve started cooking I don’t have to worry about finishing up on time I mean even if I start at 2:30pm (I leave at 1:45pm) there’s more than enough time for me to get everything done and ready by the time my hubby gets back from work (around 5pm). How can I not like our work timings?

Glued to

Sunday, March 11th, 2007

After watching a few episodes of num3ers, which doesn’t quite suit my taste, meemo was successful again in getting me tuned to the show Veronica Mars. I haven’t been watching anything but this show for the past few days. I don’t know what I should say about it, maybe it’s too early to say anything.

Little rascal

Sunday, March 11th, 2007

I didn’t realize how fast babies grow until they start acting like adults. The other day I was playing with my baby, singing and doing the “head, shoulder, knees and toes” and usually he doesn’t show much interest to that except this time Hassan started pointing his hands to his head, chest and legs as fast as he can. He was actually trying out the moves with me. So adorable …

I’ve really found it quite hard not to smile when he says “lala, uh! oh!” or “swish swish” as I’m driving with him in the car and I play the teletubbies song or “The wheels on the bus.”

I really enjoy his company more than anything.
