Baby’s unwell again
I think I’ve found a good consultant pediatrician who works at Dar AlShifa hospital. He didn’t merely prescribe my baby with all medication there is in their pharmacy like so many other private doctors would have done, as though my baby is down with a flu, an allergy, and has a vitamin deficiency.
So many times I ask them if it’s necessary to start my baby with antibiotics, some doctors would tell me to buy the antibiotics because he really needs it while others would insist that I get it just in case he needs it, if I refuse they’d reply back “you’re covered, why worry about it?”
I’m always left feeling suspicious and quite puzzled. I didn’t want to believe they were basically selling medication to me. Otherwise why would a pediatrician give a parent an antibiotic prescription if their baby doesn’t really need it unless there’s a greater cause than my baby’s well being in the long run.
Instead this doctor thought it would be best for me to wait and see before trying anything else because it wasn’t in my baby’s best interest to get started on antibiotics for a little fever, putting in mind that he was on 3 different antibiotics in less than a year, unless he has a real ear infection caused from a bacterial infection, not a viral one, which is quite rare btw but seems quite common to so many doctors here in Kuwait! I want to give my baby a chance to fight this and therefore all I’m giving my baby are fever reducing medicines until the picture is clear.
For once I trust this one doctor and I couldn’t argue with him whatsoever because I know he’s doing the right thing. For the first time I didn’t go for a second opinion. I know he cares for my baby. Let’s hope to see more of him, though it’s very unlikely.

Nono, actually he’s a Kuwaiti doctor his name is Dr. Abdullah. He only prescribed my baby some fever reducing medicines, said I should observe him and come back again today. Plus he gave me a whole hour of his time and that’s something that has become quite rare nowadays. He gave me his cell phone number to update him on baby too.
My son’s first consultant pediatrician was Dr. Lutfi because my ob strongly recommended him after I gave birth, and I would say the longest time I had been allowed to see him is about 15-30 minutes due to his busy schedules. Btw, now he moved to his own private clinic with his wife.
