Cheshme Man

Wednesday, February 28th, 2007

A girl working at a salon sent me a ring tone of some beautiful persian music which I’ve had as my ringtone ever since. I didn’t know the artist’s name until yesterday. I was at the optics buying myself a new pair of contacts and as I was ready to pay my phone started ringing, that’s when the Iranian guy on the cashier pointed out the music on my phone. He told me, ‘do you know who sings that song?’ I answered, “no, but tell me who?” He said his name was Dariush and the title of the song that took my heart is ‘cheshme man’ meaning my ex (actually it means “my eyes” and thanks to MagicalDroplets for correcting me). I just listened to the song I couldn’t understand a word but I’m sure the words are as beautiful. I wish I could find a translation of the lyrics ..

Chubbles

chubbles.jpg

I have one of those extinct chubbles, this was my favourite toy as a kid. I couldn’t go to sleep without this ugly looking thing next to me, whenever I turn off the lights it purrs to me and its eyes and nose will light up.

Bun in the oven

A co-worker of mine asked me ”so tell me, do you have a bun in the oven?” I remained quiet and moved my head in disagreement. I didn’t know whether I should tell her to mind her business and shut up or just laugh at it.

Potato skins

Sunday, February 18th, 2007

I haven’t had my lunch yet. Rami’s having dinner with his co-workers and Hassan fell asleep while I was preheating some soup for his dinner. Now I’m boiling potatoes so I can make potato skins and I might have some beans or taboulah, perhaps both. I’m not sure. All I know is I’m starved now.

1.5 yrs vaccine

Vaccine.JPG

At 8:10am my sister-in-law came over and around 8:35am we left the house heading to the clinic. Rena found an amazing parking space, I applause her. We didn’t even have to wait in line. It was pretty quick, first they gave him polio drops then one vaccine on his right thigh (4-in-1), he gave out a little cry but that was it. I just checked Marzouq’s blog and he took a painful injection yesterday, so he knows how my baby feels now.

Interpretations

Saturday, February 17th, 2007

I was called to work yesterday to do some interpreting and I told them it wasn’t easy though I promised to try my best but I think I did a good job. I’m glad that was over I’m better off doing written translations.
