It’s raining today

Tuesday, January 16th, 2007

I didn’t know it was raining until I got out of the house, I quickly got in my car and waited for my car to warm up a little, then I drove away heading to work. I like it when it rains but I really hate the traffic that follows. I didn’t turn on the heating in the car because I wasn’t feeling cold. All I thought about were two things getting to work on time and why was the washing machine not spinning as it should be? I looked it up I found out this and that

Problem (I’m quoting point number 6 from allabouthome:

Machine spins slowly or not spinning
-Lid open
-Lid switch defective
-Defective spin tube
-Drive belt out of adjustment
-Defective wigwag
-Defective timer
-Broken wire at wigwag

I haven’t attempted to see what was wrong yesterday but I will after I come back from work. I hope it’s nothing but a coin in the pipe though from what it looks like it’s probably serious.

When I got to work the parking lot reminded me of a house that suffered a massive water leak and it smelled too. I had to walk out of the car and into the building. I felt like rolling up my jeans because it was soaking wet but I changed my mind as soon as I saw a co-worker mine. We talked a little and got up the lift together, our conversation went as follows:

Co-worker: I hate it when it’s rainy and cold.

Me: I really prefer winter over summer, besides it’s not so cold today.

Co-worker: True but winter sucks, I really can’t stand it. I can’t wait until it’s summer again.

Me (still trying to defend winter season): It won’t last a month or two until it’s over and the weather is so nice you can walk around without sweating like a pig.

Co-worker: In summer, places are fully airconditioned so I don’t see a problem.

Me (conversation is going to nowhere because I could have replied that heating systems are on too and it doesn’t snow here so it’s not that cold): If you say so but change is good.

I like Dubai

Monday, January 15th, 2007

As we shopped in Dubai my brother joked: when people go to Dubai why do they buy stuff? Because it’s “Do-buy.”

I don’t feel like writing a post right now about my trip, but I will later because there’s so much to say.

Pacifiers are ok

Sunday, January 14th, 2007

I don’t care what they say about pacifiers or soothers because I have found them very damn useful in calming my baby down. I won’t say I like the look of a passie in my baby’s mouth but sometimes when you can’t take the crying anymore and you’re so stuck with a baby you’re not even sure what he wants. Why make things difficult for everyone when you can just pop it in his mouth and minutes later he’ll be smiling to you.

Another thing I liked about pacifiers is that I didn’t have to worry about Hassan picking things of off the floors and choking on them. It gives me more than enough time to catch up with him if he chose to throw it out to put something else in his mouth.

Funny thing is the other day he kissed me with the passie in his mouth. I couldn’t help smiling when he did that. It was so sweet. Now I’m in no rush to cut him off this habit and I’m going to give him a chance to wean himself on his own. If he’s happy then I’m happy too …

Chocolates & more

Saturday, January 13th, 2007

My co-worker was talking about this place and she really recommended I try their Noisetta drop and I got all excited I wanted to try them out too. I’m going to call them up in a wee while to check if they deliver.

New hobby

Saturday, January 13th, 2007

For Rami’s birthday I bought him two Nikon lens, 70-200mm f/2.8 and 60 mm f/2.8 Micro. Rami choose the first one because he’s likes portrait pictures more but I wanted the second one, which is for close-up pictures and I really liked it very much so I convinced him on getting it. I tried out the lens and fell in love with it from first sight.

Watching Rami taking photos for the past year got me really interested in photography. After promising him I will learn, now he’s considering taking it back to exchange it for the newer one. I hope I’m going to like it as much as I like this one.

Middle Ear Infection

Sunday, January 7th, 2007

When we got back from Dubai I noticed my baby wasn’t feeling well and he had a fever for two days. I took him to the doctor the next day and he said he still had an ear infection. He said that his body didn’t respond very well to amoxicillin, so I have to start him on a different antibiotic. I really hope the doctor knows what he’s doing.

After New Years

Sunday, January 7th, 2007

I didn’t break my promise I said I won’t blog until I get myself a caregiver and I sort of kept it. After placing numerous phone calls to the office for the past month or so, as well as waiting on hold for endless hours, which all resulted in fights between me and them because they continued to lie to me about test results and wrong paperwork just to shut me up, I knew that wasn’t the case because I had a feeling this had something to do with priced ticket fares around Christmas and New Years.

Even two times they shut the phone in my face. They said the line got disconnected, and I was so angry that I couldn’t bother to argue back. I couldn’t understand why no one would just tell me the truth.

I called them Thursday they said the results were not in yet and they told me to call back on Monday or Tuesday to know for sure but I couldn’t wait so I called Saturday! That’s when I really lost hope and I almost cried until a guy named Najeeb got back to me and told me she had passed her 2nd medical test last Wednesday. I couldn’t hide my joy, I wanted to ballet dance and I felt I wanted to skip all day. I wish someone told me earlier. Now I can sit back and relax a bit.
