Lost my voice

Sunday, December 24th, 2006

I’m sitting now just sipping on my tea. I’ve got so much work to do and I can’t say a word. I’ve had a sore throat since yesterday at 1am. I made my dad look down my throat with his flashlight and he said I have a throat infection (right side more than the left) so I’m planning to go see the doctor after work and bad news, I might need some antibiotics. I think Hassan got a cold too because he was sniffing a lot in the morning. I might have passed it to him, poor baby!

Dubai here we come

Saturday, December 23rd, 2006

At the end of this week we’ll be leaving to Dubai for the Eid holiday. I’ve never been out of this country around Eid or New Years. I don’t even celebrate New Years at all, though I’d usually watch how the rest of the world celebrates New Years on tv.

The only time I went to Dubai was in 2003 to see my brother and I didn’t get to explore it as much as I wanted to so I hope this time I’ll get a better look around. I really want to eat at Al-Mahara restaurant in Burj Al-Arab but I don’t know how in the hell I can do that with the baby and a husband who doesn’t eat seafood lol.

I’ve made plans to send the babysitter by the end of this week too, probably Wednesday. I have no idea what I’m going to do when I come back.

Star Academy 4

Tuesday, December 19th, 2006

I don’t know if anyone noticed this but Tina the lebanese girl in Star Academy 4 reminds me of the girl in Fair & Lovely’s commercial or maybe it is her.

Meemo pointed out that Ahmad the Kuwaiti guy has a cool nickname in uni, Jonny Bravo lol. He kind of looks like him …

Dunstan Baby Language

Tuesday, December 19th, 2006

On Oprah Winfrey’s show (a one month old episode) they showed a lady (Dunstan) who claimed to understand baby’s language by special sounds that babies make before crying. It’s an interesting idea I like it but how reliable it is? From my own experience there are certain cry patterns or signs you can look for to know what a baby wants but you can never know for sure

Sounds:

Neh-for hunger.

Owh-baby’s sleepy.

Heh-for discomfort.

Eair-for gas.

Eh-for burp.

Knock Knock

Monday, December 18th, 2006

Baby Hassan learned how to knock on the door, first time he knocked it was more like a soft tap and now it sounds more like wood pecker to me, tap .. tap .. tapping. He knocks on my head too.

I don’t know if I mentioned this before but I’m happy to say that he stopped swaying his head from side to side, it freaked me out at first (when he was about 3 months old, I think) but instead he bangs his head on mine lol.

He still pulls my hair just before he falls asleep, now there’s a new addition, his feet. He’s using both his hands and feet to pull my hair. Sometimes he pulls his eye-lashes or pokes the corners of his eyes, which is all fine with me as long as he stays away from my hair.

BORAT

Sunday, December 17th, 2006

I would say Borat is a pure ‘evil comedy’ type of movie about a guy called Borat who leaves his home country to do a documentary film about America. I’m not into funny movies but I couldn’t stop laughing, it was so silly.

I liked the fact that this movie added a new touch to the movie industry in the way it was filmed because it feels so real in every way. But it sure was very controversial one that I’m positive it got harsh criticism.

Sitting and thinking

Sunday, December 17th, 2006

I made an oath today that I won’t be getting up from my desk until I’m done with all the pending jobs I have, except I have to see my cousin who works somewhere on the 2nd floor, his aunt from his father side passed away 2 weeks ago and I haven’t gotten a chance to pay my respects to him, so I’ll probably go today. I’ve been meaning to go earlier but somehow I didn’t. I feel so awkward in such situations …
