Just another stranger

Wednesday, December 27th, 2006

October last year we let a total stranger in our homes. She lived with us, ate and drank. She took care of my baby for me when I’m not there..

We had our fights, made up and fought again like couples would do. I bought her clothes and toys for her daughter like a friend would do, helped her pack as though we were sisters and couldn’t stop thinking I’m going to miss her..

Today after work I’m taking her to the airport, make sure she checks in and wish her all the best because it would be the last time we ever meet again.

Now I’m waiting for the next stranger, until I find another babysitter, I’m not going to blog.

Up all night

Hassan’s been exposed to a lot of kids lately and as a result he’s easily catching colds, not that this is bad for him on the contrary it should be good for him because it helps develop his own immunity against certain viruses and diseases, now I sound like a doctor lol.

I really wanted to go to work yesterday but I couldn’t because I wasn’t feeling well and Hassan had a fever from his cold, not from a secondary infection so I didn’t start him on antibiotics yet. I will have to check his ears before I leave to Dubai and I’m definitely taking everything I need from thermometers to fever reducing medications.

I’m still looking forward to Dubai and I won’t let anything get in my way. Burj Al-Arab here I come!

Baby humming

Tuesday, December 26th, 2006

My baby’s starting to wave goodbye and it so looks like one too followed by ‘Baa’ as in bye, which so cute ..

Last week he took me by shook when he attempted to sing the ’happy birthday’ song, it didn’t sound very much like it but he got the tune right then he clapped and went ”haaay”. It made me laugh so hard when he tried to blow the candles.

It will be sweet if he sings the song.

Just Smile

Tuesday, December 26th, 2006

It’s quite rare nowadays to actually find people smiling in the mornings, I’d prefer so much to see people smile back to me – instead of giving me a grimacing, scowling, and sneering looks early in the morning. What’s up with that? People shouldn’t look like that in the morning … it’s so wicked! Like they say: “smile and the world will smile with you” or is it “smile and the world will smile back to you.” Whatever sounds best, just keep smiling …

Baby Gap Sale

Sunday, December 24th, 2006

As soon as Gap had their online sale I quickly placed an order for some baby clothes for Hassan and I got my package around 2 weeks ago just in time for our winter here lol. He looks so cute and adorable in Gap.

Items I got and are still available:

1. Heather gray logo hoodie.

2. I love Dad striped long sleep set.

I couldn’t find the rest of the stuff I bought him but I like this too: Fairisle Fleece hoodie.

Toy shops

On Wednesday we had to go buy some birthday gifts for Rami’s nieces and nephews. I didn’t know of any near stores in Jabriya but Shanakil and 101. So we went with the first choice because I’ve dealt with them so many times before, way before I had Hassan. I really thought they had good prices.

To my absolute shock everything was so expensive, for instance every time we laid our eyes on something, the owner would go “the original price is 10kd but for you guys I’ll sell it for 8kd.” I knew the guy was trying so hard to play us dumb because some toys were no way sold for such prices. I’ve seen most of their items for a much cheaper price else where.

I got pissed off the guy! I got even more pissed when we were checking out the toddler’s strollers and one of them was sold for 12kd, while others were for much more. That’s when Rami went “we’re better off buying a stroller from Mothercare” and then we left.

I told Rami let’s check out 101 since we’re in the area. The prices were even more ridiculously expensive. What a bunch of rip offs.

The next day we went to Fantasy World, and I was a happy customer when I left. I found so many good brands for a much cheaper price and I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw the same toy strollers, of the same quality as the ones we saw at Shanakil but for a much cheaper price 2.850kd, what a huge difference. How naive I was to believe such stores.
