I am actually feeling the difference in driving style between here (Scotland) and Kuwait. I feel sorry for the way people driving in Kuwait. I believe there are many reasons (regardless the origin or gender), but important reasons are selfishness and poor respect to others. We tend to underestimate the others on the road. If every one try to give the way to others (even if the driver is rude), perhaps this would make him/her ashame of oneself at some stage. Eventually, the community behaviour will change. let us start by ourself in this holy month. I am sure this will make a change. I see this happening at roundabouts, at least in some areas,
Take care,

honestly, we are at a point where the majority of the population, domestic or foreign, have reached a point where none can drive. Side mirrors, rear-view mirrors, signals, have all become un-necessary accesories for cars. I mean they use the mirror to check their make up or if their moustache is leveled or if their hair is gelled properly. Its pathetic.

Annabelle, I don't mean to be harsh on foreigners in this post because I'm also aware of so many Kuwaiti drivers who break the rules, but it just bothers me more to see a non-Kuwaiti doing so when they should know better than that.

I'm glad you're not one of them.

really now, only visitors don't follow rules you must be kidding!.
I think nationals care much less about the rules, more because its their country whatever and visitors are more cautious in the sense they don't want to get into trouble in a foreign country.kwim?
It not fair on the visitors to say they are don't follow rules.

The world is a small place now. It's no longer "citizens" vs. "visitors." We don't have any credibility asking others to follow rules we don't even follow.

There are rules?

When we came, the only guidance we got from the embassy was "no matter what you have been told about right-of-way, the truth is that you must yield to anything bigger than you are." That was it.

My husband added his advice: "Don't ever drive behind a truck carrying cement blocks."

I almost got hit by a radiator once, that fell off a truck in front of me.

If there are rules here, I do not see them being enforced. I would love to see a turn signal, for example, or a gracious wave as in "please, you go ahead of me."
