Heat Rash

Wednesday, July 26th, 2006

Two days ago when I got back home from work, I found that my baby’s neck, shoulder and a bit of his back were all red. I quickly took his temperature and there was no fever. So I called up my sister-in-law to check with her. She told me it’s nothing serious and she said this could be prickly heat, which is very common in the summer. I got worried a little. She told me to check if it’s all over his body and it was only on the neck, shoulder and parts of the back area. She suggested I remove any tight clothing and to give him more fluids. That’s what I did and within an hour or so it all disappeared. I was so relieved, looks like my baby can overheat very quickly and I need to keep an eye on him from now on.

Baking a Coconut Cake

Tuesday, July 25th, 2006

I just put my cake in the oven to bake. I feel so exhausted but if this is going to help one little kid in Lebanon then I’ll be more than happy to stay awake. All I have to do is remember to take it with me to work tomorrow. I hope KRC would raise plenty of money for the Lebanese people, inshallah.

My brother’s back

My brother came back from Dubai last night, he got his degree in business administration, congrats little brother. You make me feel old and I don’t like feeling this way!

Comparing Babies

Monday, July 24th, 2006

I don’t like it when some Asian workers comment and say: ‘what a big baby you’ve got there.’ I’ve heard it so many times and I really think it’s rude for some reason that I can’t quite say why. I try to ignore such dumb criticism because babies come in different sizes and shapes. You can’t compare them to one another at this stage or any other phase, it’s silly. One chubby baby may grow to be slim in figure, another tiny baby can grow to be very tall statured. I would’ve really preferred to hear: ‘what a healthy baby you’ve got there.’ It’s more polite, I guess.

Running Away

Monday, July 24th, 2006

In my dream:

I walked in my Pj’s, holding my teddy bear, along side my brother to the end of the road. It was a short way but for our little sweaty feet it very far. I don’t know where we were heading, probably to know where but we didn’t care anymore. I looked up ahead of me when I saw a friendly stranger pull over, lowers his window, smiles and motions for us to get in his car. We didn’t listen to our instincts because all we can think about at that moment was the unbearable heat and how thirty we were. He gave us ice cream cones, drove away and promised that everything will be ‘alright.’

What happened to the Cedar Tree?

Sunday, July 23rd, 2006

I’m very saddened by the recent attacks on Lebanon, but I’m more upset with all the posts and rude comments I read every day about Lebanon on so many blogs than anything else.

I quote Rampurple:

“I swear a lot of your comments are worst than the actual bombardments! If this is what the human race has become then I suggest we all unite to nuke the Earth and get it all over with.”

All I can say, Lebanon needs our support right now more than ever.

On and About

Sunday, July 23rd, 2006

Friday was a good day for me because we had a barbecue but the best thing about it was when we called up my granny in London. She went there for a leg surgery and now she’s able to walk again. I’m so happy for her. My dad told her to do the surgery a long time ago but she refused a lot until she realized she was unable to walk anymore and it was causing so much trouble for her. But one more surgery to go, then she’ll be able to dance on two legs again, inshallah, perhaps do the hokey pokey and jump around a little. Get better soon mamaaa ..

Enough about sweet granny and more about my little baby now. Yesterday I was a little shocked when I found so much urate crystals in my baby’s diapers, it’s more like clear jelly formation. It’s not the first time I find this in his diapers and when he was around 4 months I took him to his pediatrician, he said it was quite normal. This time I discovered a tiny tear in his diaper, as it seems it’s coming from inside and I recently switched to another brand, so I hope that’s why there were so many. I’m thinking of taking him again just to make sure it’s nothing serious.

As for today I got breakfast for everyone at work and it’s not from Mcdonald’s because the other day upon taking the first bite of my muffin sandwich, just before I chewed and swallowed it, something ‘cracked’ in my mouth and – I spit it all out! I found big pieces of egg shells, I never ate so much shells in my whole life. It was so disgusting! I took it back and I was offered a free meal next time I go there. I love Mcdonald’s but this was unexpected, never happened before and it just shows how messy things can get when they’re in a rush! The manager that talked to me was very friendly and was very sorry for my icky yucky experience.

And for tonight I have plans with Meemo to go over to Obssessive Compulsive’s place. I’m looking forward to going. This should be really fun!
