Comparing Babies

I don’t like it when some Asian workers comment and say: ‘what a big baby you’ve got there.’ I’ve heard it so many times and I really think it’s rude for some reason that I can’t quite say why. I try to ignore such dumb criticism because babies come in different sizes and shapes. You can’t compare them to one another at this stage or any other phase, it’s silly. One chubby baby may grow to be slim in figure, another tiny baby can grow to be very tall statured. I would’ve really preferred to hear: ‘what a healthy baby you’ve got there.’ It’s more polite, I guess.

It’s always hard to hear comments and it’s worse when they say, “Why is he so thin and tiny!” It makes me feel like a bad mother who doesn’t feed her child! And as you said, he may grow to be slim. I was a FAT baby and now look at me!
