Makes my tummy turn
I can’t seem to eat chicken anymore without remembering Nat’s post ‘Horrible and Gruesome!’ about the nasty ways animals are slaughtered to death in China, especially dogs for their fur and meat. Yuck!! I don’t think I can even ever eat any Chinese food again. And now I keep questioning everything I eat. I want to go on vegan diet really soon.

Aren’t the chicken prepared locally in Kuwait? As far as I know, it’s done in the islamic (non-torturing) way. China may be different

3baid, I hope so.

The Islamic way which is “halal” is also considered as animal abuse by Peta since the chicken aren’t usually stunned before they have their throats slit. I still eat chicken though occasionaly while trying not to think about how its done. But anyway noone can compete with China’s and North Korea’s horrible practices.

Nat, I believe the Jewish slaughter their animals in the same way too. There’s a reason for that. It’s not a traditional thing but there’s a religious reason behind that. It’s quick, drains most of the blood out and the least painful method known without using any sort of anesthetic or medication; which can be considered unsafe for human consumption.
Out of respect, butchers must say ‘Bismillah’ or ‘in the Name of Allah’ before they slaughter the animals. I also know butchers should never sharpen their knives in front of the animal they’re about to slaughter because it’s considered unhumane, and we can’t eat the meat of any animal that was subjected to any sort of cruelties.

Oh ok i didn’t know it had a religious significance:)
