ALL about the Baby

Friday, October 7th, 2005

The first time I carried him in my arms and on my own I shook so much and I was so helpless! I didn’t know that I had to sing for the baby to calm him down …

The crying never stops! The more I got to know the baby the more I got to know what he wanted. I noticed a pattern in his cries. How could I explain this!!!

If his crying breaks up after I bottlefed him half of his feeding this meant that he wanted to burp or simply the bottle is dripping too fast!! If he cried and the tone of his cries changed to furious non-stop cries and he started kicking his legs; I knew he had gases (btw that goes on for the 1st three months)! And when of course he yawns (careful, not all yawning means a baby is sleepy) and at the same time cries; I knew that he wanted to go to sleep.

I learned that some sounds like aaaaoooow more like a howl meant that he might be bored and wanted to play or wanted to be carried around. Or when he’s quite bothered he’d have what’s so rare in babies; the “quivering chin.” Don’t mistaken that for ’shivering’ and start warming up your baby! Couldn’t get a shot of that yet!

He hates the ‘hiccups.’ Sometimes he cries and goes right back to sleep after a 2 min. episode of hiccups and lol … I’d be relieved …

A day after, at the hospital

Friday, October 7th, 2005

The most terrible days of my life, why? Because after my surgery I couldn’t move and I had what’s callled BABY’s blues. I cried so much, rejected food, and I didn’t want to see anyone, even my baby (I felt so sorry for my baby) and it annoyed me to hear his cries …

Because of surgery, I couldn’t walk the 1st day, and the next day, I struggled so much to walk and I was so bloated … it hurt so much, I thought how will I ever make it, and cope with all this! Well, I took like 5 different tablets everyday; vitamins, antibiotics, disflatil (for gas), and lots of PAINKILLERS! This went on for the 1st week … but got better everyday and the more I walked and ate … the better I got!

And, when I recovered from surgery and the blues. It was all about the baby!!!!

Note: This part is for me, a reminder for what I went through.
