Driving to Work

Monday, April 25th, 2005

I don’t understand why people in Kuwait don’t use their signals to switch lanes, is it their way of trying to save energy?? As though I’m expected to guess that at this very second the car adjacent to me will shift to the right or maybe to the left!!! That’s how it goes… every morning on my way to work…

Yesterday, my sister rented a limo for her b-day, she turned 28, and we got together with some girls, and drove around for two hours on… Gulf Street… Love Street…

It was really funny to see how so many people reacted at the sight of the limo, they couldn’t resist staring…

And it’s quite ironic how the policeman stopped so many cars that had window tinting and gave them tickets, as we drove past!!!

It was quite fun though, and for dinner we ate at Chilis, and I ordered this ‘Guiltless Chicken Platter.’ It’s really suppose to make someone feel less guilty about eating because it’s low fat. But, I felt really bad for ordering the dish because I couldn’t eat the piece of chicken… it was really tasteless… mistake of my life ;(

178 days …

In a week time I’d be in my 7th month …

And as usual, I was surfing some pregnancy sites, and got upon an interesting birth story, once I started reading it I just couldn’t hold in my tears, the story touched my heart deeply and my eyes filled up with so much tears.

It never occurred to me until this moment how scary it is to give birth, I’m not sure if I’m strong enough … it got me really worried …

On the bright side, the day before yesterday, my sister’s friend aunt was in labour, dilated to about 5 cm, and ready to deliver. My sister happened to be at the hospital, luckily, she knew the operating Doctor (had her lab coat was with her), so she was allowed in the operating rooms and got to see the whole thing. I won’t go into much detail, but my sister described it as a ‘wonderful experience,’ not to be missed!!

This totally changed my sister’s view about giving birth (since it wasn’t pleasant for her), because when she gave birth to her 1st baby, she had induced labour, and had other complications on her 2nd baby, and got a c-section for both.

Hope things would be better for me …

Shopping at Sears …

Wednesday, April 13th, 2005

Yesterday on our way to landmark to return some items, my husband took the wrong road to get there, and we kinda got to a huge store called ‘Sears’ that sells what looks like real brands for 1/2 its price. We checked out the place and found shoes for 750 fils!!! I bought from there a cute ‘first impression’ cotton baby’s overall that came with matching cotton shoes for 950 fils only. I must say they have an impressive designer’s collection of clothes … ranging from DKNY, Liz Claiborne, Calvin Kline, Ralph Lauren, Jessica, etc. and all sorts of home accessories, tools, equipments, bedding, etc. I liked so many dresses; but sadly, they didn’t have a maternity section … oh well!

Today ‘Mowla,’ the family driver, took me to work because my mom had to take my car, she had a doctor’s appointment and her car was at the garage. So much for waking up early … I didn’t want to be late for work, but ‘Mowla’ was driving as slow as a turtle. I couldn’t tell him to speed up because he drives my 17 year old sister to univ., and it won’t be such a good idea to teach him such a habit. I felt so tense and I have never felt that way ever since the day I got my final exam results, and till I got to work … punched in just in the nick of time … that I felt more relaxed! It’s probably the effect of Hardee’s spicy chicken sandwich I had lastnight …
